OK? I?ve got my Gilat-2-Home dish installed. They supplied a computer with the system (Dell OptiPlex GX100? it SUX) and internet connect speeds on the Dell box are terrific. I?d really like to use the Dell box as a gateway for the other 3 systems in my house. I tried ?WinGate?, it bombed at install. Something to do with the fact that it can only bind to 2 NICs (the system uses 3 NICs, 2 for the satellite dish and one for basic Ethernet. I tried Avirt SOHO, it works but the remote systems only get around 40K out of the 400K+ coming down from the dish. I tried All-For-One, interesting product, it?s NOT a proxy server. It binds the outgoing connection sharing to NETBEUI rather than TCP/IP but again only around 40K to 60K at the remote systems. I?m running out of options here. If I can?t get this thing to feed my entire network it?s just not worth having for me.

Any ideas???

ur complaing about getting 40-60k downloads? some of us barely get 5k, if u need to download something big do it on the router, no big deal, u should be ahppy to get the connection ur getting. well thats what I would do in ur case at least.

To DarkManX... When I say 40K I'm talking bandwidth. The same as having a 56K modem connecting at 40K. The D/L speeds show at 4K (something I still don't quite understand...)

To Skidmark... Thanks for the suggestion but AnalogX Proxy works no better than any of the others. In fact it kills internet access completely on the Dell box.

To All... I've now tried WinRoute (Pro and Lite, AnalogX, Avirt, All Aboard (I called it All-For-One in error), Wingate, Windows ICS, & SysGate.

As near as I can tell "real" proxy software just will not work. The 2 NIC limit is the catch. I need something that will bind to 2 NICS (the satellite cards in & out) as well as the internal Ethernet NIC to feed the network.

Help Meeee... Help Meeee (Ever seen the original "The Fly"...??)
