I'm a high school junior and was just wondering how hard it would be to do an A+ course over the summer. How much studying is required to pass the exam?

How much studying is required is really a function of how much of the material you already know and how much you are trying to learn just for the test.

What do you want to do with this? Get a tech job at Best Buy? As an actual long term career building tool, that cert is worthless.

I would say that understanding how to utilize Google and the internet to it's fullest potential is far more valuable when it comes to fixing PCs than an A+ degree. If you want to do it anyways you can always pick up an A+ for Dummies and Barnes and Nobles or something.

It's not all that bad unless it's by itself. It lends itself well to matching up with MCSE. Of course, with hardware in general being so easy these days, A+ doesn't mean as much as it did. But at least, it means that the holder probably is competent enough to work on mainstream notebooks and desktops down to component level.

What do you mean A+ isn't good?

I want to get a job in a nice company and in order to do that you need to have certifications and degrees.

The only way a prospective employee is going to know you are worth anything is by your resume and certifications.

You guys shouldn't feed a kid crap, if you want the best chances of getting a good computer job someday you better have a few certifications and a degree under your belt.

In fact I'm looking to get my A+ right now, and I'm trying to figure a good way to get it... ;)
