A+ certification for $198. Anyone go through Total Seminars before?

I'm looking to take the 2 A+ exams, software and hardware, I believe. This site, has it for $198:

I'm thinking of purchasing the package (SUMMER BLOWOUT! A+ Premium Edition Practice Exam (1100 Questions) & 2 A+ Vouchers), and hopefully taking the test locally in CT somewhere. I was against taking this test before. I have a BS in MIS, and have been working with PCs before I could drive. I have been turned away from too many jobs recently, after getting laid off by the state. I have been asked 2-3 times if I have A+ cert, I say no, and explain my other experience. Seems working in a very busy IT dept. doesn't cut it.

Has anyone ordered through Total Seminars before? I just want to make sure I'm not getting shafted out of $198. Thx in advance.

err... just buy a standard A+ book and study it. Write the test where you can.

A+ isn't worth $200.

If you've got that experience, you "could" go out and get an Exam Cram A+ book, study it over the weekend and take the A+ test the next week.

$200 doesn't seem all that bad if you want to do an online practice test (I assume that's what it offers).

I guess it all depends on how much the test regularly is. If it's more than $198, then get the package. You'll get study material plus the vouchers. If it's less, then buy a book and go yourself and pay in person when you take the tests. If you've spent 2 years in an IT dept, surely you can pass a simple A+ exam.

Thanks for the responses guys. If anyone know where to pick up just the 2 vouchers for less than $198, please let me know. I thought they were normally around $105 a piece, so I thought the $198 was pretty a good price.

It is a good price. The others think you are paying for A+ classes, not the test itself. The actual tests from what I recall cost about $120 a piece, so the two of them for $198 is a good deal.

Just got my A+ certification this week. Here's what i did.

Bought both tests from GetCertifiedForLess.com for 197.95 (198.95 plus a $1 off coupon LINK)
Took all the practice tests on passitnow.com (LINK)
Scheduled my exams at Prometric (did the adaptive ones)
Took them both. Hardware took me 6 minutes. Software took me 5.

I made a 876 on hardware and a 963 on software. Thats probably bad but I only needed a 600 for HW and 596 for SW. The questions were so easy. If you take all the practice exams I linked, you'll ace it because the question banks are the same. SKIP TRAINING and BOOKS!

The hardest parts were forking over the 200 bucks and being a little nervous that I didn't prepare enough and was going to lose my money. I can't stress enough how easy the test was. Just do ALL those practice tests and remember the answers you got wrong. You won't fail!

I should also mention i'm 22 and i've had a computer since I was 12. I consider myself and experienced user. You have a degree in the stuff so you should be even better off.

FWIW.

Some won't. Others are in a market where people won't give you an interview unless you've got it. You can't say its absolutely good/bad. Its obviously a joke in terms of the curriculum because its so rudimentary. But its not a joke because alot of HR people want to see it for their entry level PC jobs. I am in no way proud I have it (i personally consider it insulting to have it), but if it helps me get a job (not having it has cost me a couple interviews already,) then it was worth it.
