I've been thinking about getting my A+ Certification so I have some sort of qualification to work =) The books by Michael Myers were recommended to me, but I'm not sure which one to get, there's different editions... I guess the 4th edition is the newest, so I guess that would be the one to get?
Any other books to either suppliment his, or take his a step further?

I may already know most of what I need to know for the hardware part, not sure cause I have no idea what it's like... basically I'm looking for a certification to help get me an entry level job... like at the service center of a Best Buy or Circuit City.

if you already have a grasp of hardware, you don't need to study a+ material, just study the test. there should be example tests all over the internet, but go into book stores and read through some examples in books.

Come on guys, he didnt ask for your opinion on the certification. He doesnt need to be told that what he is getting is sh!t.
Dont dump on people trying to do something to better themselves.

u aint gonna know jack about computers just from one A+ book. i highly recommend "upgrading.. " book. just check it out at a bookstore. has a wealth of info that A+ doesn't touch.

The way I see it, someone else may know more than me, but having "a piece of paper" that vouches for what I do know, I may be more likely to get the job over someone who's too arrogant or just hasn't bothered to take the test and get the certification because it's "poo."

Check out http://www.2000tutor.com/Forums/ They have a very good A+ area.

Getting your A+ is a great way to break into the field. Ignore the A$$wipes with the stupid comments.

Michael Myers has some fine books as do a few others (Sybex, ExamPrep, ExamCram). My suggestion is that you read at least two books on each subject (A+ is a two-part exam), each from different authors. Read the reviews on Amazon.

The best prices can be located with www.bestbookbuys.com. I have also purchased books from half.com. Four of the like-new books were never opened.

Whenever you order check the edition number and get the latest.

Good Luck,
