A+ Certification and a likely summer Job?!?!?!?!

I am currently a sophmore at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I am planning on majoring in Business that is if I get in. But I was wondering how likely it would be to get a summer job/parttime job after getting my A+ certification. I took an A+ certification class in highschool and now my university is offering online classes in a wide variety of areas including A+ so it would essentially free except maybe the book. I have built money computers and I have some troubleshooting experience. The question I am contemplating is would it be worth my time and effort to get certified and find a job in the Madison area. How is the job market for these types of positions?

Any help would be much appreciated,
Matthew

in my area, northern Virginia/D.C. , there are few job opportunities for A+. Most want experience or at least MCSE for that type of work. A couple years ago, you could have had an awesome job, but not anymore.

Good luck finding a job. But certification is cheap if you self study and it definetly won't hurt. So I would say go for it.

Jobs are scarce, and certs are plentiful. Just read this thread. The fact is that most employers want experience more than certifications. If you have some real world experience to back up that certification you might land something for the summer. A+ isn't as respected as it used to be.

Yeah, it just doesn't have much bearing on normal day-to-day fix-it operations. Personally, I could care less what the seven steps a laser printer goes through before it spits out a page. But if you want to pass the test, I suggest you memorize them.

if you're planning to get a summer job based on an A+ cert, you better start looking for the job now.
