a CD writing question

I have a cd writing question, as I have only had mine for a couple of weeks and am still learning how to use it... Is it necessary not to use the computer while I am writing an image to a CD? It can take up to 40 minutes for me to write a full disk, and it would be nice to be able to get on the internet, or even use the word processor (basically stuff that doesn't use a lot of system resources). Possible or recommended?

I am using a Mitsumi 2801 CDR and normally use Discjuggler 2 to write my images.

Thanks!

I've never had any problems with it. In Win98, I never did anything other than surf the Internet while burning, but in Win2k I've copied large files and played games without a problem.

it's so sad that we're afraid to test out a burner when the CDs cost about 40 cents or so 🙂

When I first got mine I did nothing on it because the only person I knew with one had a k6-200 and a parallel burner.

I now burn with 4x on a USB burner and do everything BUT play games. I might as well give it a shot. After all, if it doesn't work I'm about about 50 cents.

And you say you didn't do it in Win98. Afraid to, or you tried it and it never worked?

It's usually not that big a deal because while burning at 4x you're out of a game for what, 18 minutes at most? Not anything to get all upset about.

But like I said, it's only a blank CD. Keep trying until you get a burn error. Losing a CD is no big deal 🙂

Shudder - Normally it would be no big deal, but I am down to my last 2 blank CDRs and it will be at least 3 or 4 days until my spindle of 50 arrives. At this point if I make a coaster it means a trip to the store to buy a cd, and I really don't feel like making that trip 🙂

hehh...in tryin to remedy a problem with my CDRW, i've already made like ... 13 coasters....cool... and i can flip em like frisbees too...

Shudder, I never bothered messing with it in 98 because every time it finished burning a cd, Easy CD creator would crash. It doesn't happen in 2k, so I don't even bother burning anything in 98 anymore.
