I have been out of the v.card arena for a while and need to get a new card. I do very little (but some) gaming. I am more interested in 2D performance, text, etc. I use my machine for business apps, photography and very little gaming.

So, basically, I'm looking for an all around good card. It will need to be at least AGP 4x as I'm building a new system and most motherboards don't support agp 2x anymore.

Suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

;) Well Rad8500/8500LE or to a lesser degree Rad9000PRO are the clear winners and you should get 128MB for under $100. These are very capable gaming cards though (as well as sporting great all-round goodness). If gaming isn't a huge priority then a 64MB card will mroe than suffice, Rad9000 is cool and still VERY good while Rad7500 is getting a bit long in the tooth now. GF2 and GF3 are let down in the image quality dept (text etc) while GF4MX are worse than Radeon alternatives and GF4TI are overkill for you. So I'd rec a 64MB Rad8500LE or Rad9000PRO as the best suited cards for you. When buying Radeon do be sure the clocks and features aren;t compromised as these do vary between manu and retail vs oem/bulk, nothing HUGE but worth checking. Worst case tends to be no o/c, 10% reduction in 3D perf and no dual display.
