a car audio question

is there some generic way to take a car stereo out of a car or is every one different?

if so, how can i take mine out of my car?

edit: its an after market type with a removable faceplate and stuff.

It's different for all cars make and model.. especially the brands..

You need to let us know the make and model of your car, if you want help.. or just a claw on your hammer to pull it out..

Aftermarket decks for the most part just slide out. They usually require the use of some special "keys."

Alot of aftermarket head units have the bracket style where you use a "key" to unhook the head unit from the bracket. Once the headunit is unhooked, you can slide it out. The unhook points are on the left and right sides of the headunits. Just slip in the "key" and you'll feel a clicking sound, do the same with the other side and the unit should slide right out.

Btw, the "key" with most manufacturers is just a flat metal peice about 1" x 8". You're basically just using it to push the metal piece on the bracket that is hooked onto the headunit to keep it in place.

I dunno how to do it, just like the pr|cks that broke both the front windows of my car and proceeded to bash the headunit until it no longer works. They didn't get it though.
