I've got a Toshiba 1005-s157 laptop, and the part on the mainboard where the A/C plugs in to recharge the battery or to run off of A/C power seems to be broken. I can only get it to work when pushing in the power at an angle, which means that I really can't run off of A/C power anymore. :(

Anyone know how I might go about fixing this? Am I just fscked here?

It looks like someone set down a book or something on top of the power cable when it was connected to the laptop, which broke the little part on the inside. It still works, but it's got a lot of play to it, and is really hard to get the power to recharge anymore.

Any ideas what I can do, short of replacing the laptop or shelling out $200 for my local repair place to fix it? :(

You could just get the part's you need and do it your self. But you will need basic soldering and electronic skills to preform this kind of a fix. If you got a friend thats in to electronic repair maybe you can get him/her to repair the laptop for you and all you got to do is buy the part's.

I took electronic's repair a few years back and it saved me alots of cash since I can fix it my self. ;)
