A/C Gurus: what should a 51-100998-05 condenser motor swap run me from a pro?

Have a freaking BBQ scheduled tomorrow and my condenser motor in my Rheem died. I know it's the motor and not the capacitor.

What would you pro's charge for this R&R? How much more to do a new capacitor at the same time?

I am looking at around $120-150 cash and carry for the part and a little extra for the cap. I know how to kill all power to my unit and I am very handy.

If it's not bad for the job, I will have a pro do it and be done with it.

I tried to get an estimate tonight but everyone wants an emergency fee and must come out to give it.

Thanks

Depends on the hourly fee is in your area here in SC Trane charges north of $100/hr for commercial accounts not sure what the home owner rate is. I found the motor for under $100 from a supplier here in SC with the mark up on the parts and if they charge you travel you could be looking at $300

You're not paying a mortgage and are in default...just use whatever money should be going to pay your debt obligation and pay for the A/C.

You're a baller and we're all just jelly, bro...why are you sweating a few hundred bucks? From your other posts, you're rich, we're poor, and you wipe your ass with $100 bills...maybe not quite as rich as you made out to be???

Just for that I am putting it in your wife's ass tonight.

About $650 to $800. They will replace the capacitor by default in a motor replacement. They will also try to sell you on the prop as well since it can cost more in labor to remove the old one than just buying a new one.

That's a pretty good price. I had to change ours last fall and the cost of the motor from Grainger was around $150 and another 25 for the capacitor.
Sounds like you're getting a sweet deal.

My dad helped his relative out a lot. He has a motor that matches mine that the original customer cancelled the job. So he cut me a break on the motor. He is going to be in my area anyway this morning on another job down the road so it's another few bucks for him for an easy fix on his way home. For a totally new motor, he could get me one for $125, but no one is open in the area today and I'd have to wait until Monday.

Your talking about the outside fan right?, mine dies a few years ago, I got a replacement for around $70, had to hacksaw the shaft down to the correct length but otherwise all went fine. My cap exploded about 1.5 yrs later, that was only $8 at an AC supply house..

$125, slightly used fan motor, new capacitor and fuses (they overloaded last night). Repaired a loose connection the previous A/C guy left that was arcing. Partial cleaning due to my dryer vent being too close. He wants to come back for a more through cleaning and inspection of the attic. I gave him $160.

House is down to 85...internal vents were outputting 67 and outside temps are about 86 today.

Actually I am glad I didn't attempt this myself. My old fan blades were practically seized on. My standard puller would have probably resulted in bent blades.

Yea, that can happen close to the beach, when I did mine it was 2 allen screws and it came right off. My Mom had a house in Flagler 1 blk from the beach, she went through 3 condensers in the 15 years she lived there.
