A/C ducts on the outside of house, wtf

Zooming in it looks like those "ducts" are only three sided with a flange that is ON TOP of the vinyl siding.

Yup, exactly why I said:

Looks like an old house so it may have had radiant heating originally - ie. no ducting. That's not exactly easy to add if it wasn't part of the original design of the house without some major remodeling.

It's likely just an outter sheathing that's insulated with the actual ducting inside of it. In fact you can see the verticle piece flashing up against the house. Ideal? No. Better than nothing though as it doesn't look like there's too many windows for ventilation. Not everyone is at ATOT baller status.
