A/C doesn't work at night...

My window air conditioner doesn't blow cool air at night. It pretty much only works when it's hot and sunny outside. Is this because it needs lots of humidity and there is more during the daytime? I don't know, someone please explain.

My A/Cs have a tendency to freeze up at night. I live in the Northeast, the high humidity and lowering temps cause ice to form on the radiator, which stops the air from moving through. This happens with two A/Cs I own, during the day they run perfectly fine since the ice never forms.

the colder temps at night are the cause for this to happen.
i get the same problems on my printroom a/c when i get print jobs requiring 24 hour operation.
one thing you can do to help prevent this is to have the a/c cycle. (not always blowing cold air) and to set the temp for the a/c to a higher temp at night than at day as the coolr night air helps the a/c to freeze up.

That little dial that says "Temp"? It's a thermostat. It causes the compressor to cycle on and off as needed to maintain the set temperature.
