A/C blew weak and was not cold for 3 days but has returned to normal

Coming back from a trip from Central CA I noticed the A/C started blowing a lot weaker than normal. Next day after getting off work it seem to have gotten worse. It was blowing weak and what was cold before now is just cool. After 10 minutes of driving I usually have to set it level 1 (1-5) because it's too cold but during the following 2 days I had to set it to 3 or 4 to stay cool. Even set that high I barely felt any air blowing across my face.

Strangely yesterday everything just returned to normal like it never happened. I didn't do or check anything.
 
Did the outside temperature change? If there is an incorrect amount of refrigerant in the AC lines (overfilled for example), the AC will not cool properly with very hot outside temperatures... e.g. it might seem to cool great at 80 degrees F and then almost feel like it's not cooling at all if the outside temp is 90 degrees F.
