I LOVE DigitalFoundry's side-by-side comparison videos... I'm particularly happy with this one! :)

this is the same as saying air freshener covers up the smell of a turd.

no surprise here.

Hey, new title one never knows for sure until it's tested.

AND, just like Menthos & Diet Pepsi, not everyone knows what 'everyone else knows' and are in for a good time. ;)

I recall people were talking about some hefty hardware requirements, but when I started the game up I was happy to see that it automatically set the graphics to Ultra. I do see some minor FPS drops in certain areas, but it doesn't look to be getting below 40 FPS. Glad i got it for PC instead of Xbox one for sure.

Wow, color me pink that an Nvidia 750 Ti is faster than 2 year older HD 7790. It isn't like every review/comparison out that wouldn't tell you that the 750Ti is faster...

Being able to play this game on a 100% fanless system would be pretty impressive! Passive PSU, passive CPU, passive GPU, maybe one big silent case fan to move the air and you have a *silent* rig playing a AAA game. Sweet. :D

True... closer to $400 all-in if you have no parts to re-use. Possibly $450 if you have to buy Windows. $500 if you don't know how to shop for deals. ;)

Last time this came up I was able to do one for $400 with windows that had equal or better specs to the consoles. That wasn't really shopping around either. Just going to newegg. In any case a $300-400 PC doesn't really make sense when a $500-600 one will be so much better.

I spent $450 almost two years ago to "revamp" my gaming PC. A middle of the road GPU ($200) 7950HD, and Monoprice 2560x1440 monitor. Still getting by with my trusty 1090t and 8GB of fast RAM.

Last console I owned was the original Xbox, which I modded and pirated games for. I quit my piracy ways, since I own over 250 games legit on the PC, and never have time to play them all.

But you're still only getting 40fps. That's pretty bad.

Forget price comparisons between console and budget PC. The real winners are the young people and anyone else stuck with an OEM PC the parents/they bought, that has an i3 and a 16x slot in it. Drop in $100 750ti and for many, another $25 4GB stick of ram and they are good to go.

Compared to what? The consoles are getting worse fps at lower detail settings. I could dial it down to their graphics level and get rock solid 60fps. For a game like this, 60fps 90% of the time with sporadic drops to 40 fps is more than acceptable for the increase in graphics detail.

If my experience is "bad" then 90% of all gaming devices this game will run on are worse than bad.

ABSO....LUTELY!

I do all my major gaming on my PC. I have a console (PS4) but it's used as a dedicated Netflix/Amazon Instant Video box. LOL

~$470 CDN is the best I can come up with for budget PC (more if doing a Skylake i3 build). Even that will play at graphic settings better than PS4 and XB1.

Still I'm reading people are getting framerate drops down to 30 on PC version.

Well fundamentally consoles are budget low end gaming devices, a lot of the fanboys love to think that they're somehow medium or even high end devices but they simply aren't. So this isn't something new or surprising really, especially considering they're becoming more PC-like with every generation of console, most of their games are multi-platform built on engines developed on the PC.

Unfortunately, you can't play The Last of Us on PC. :(

Doesn't really matter where the engine came from if the game is optimized for console and then poorly ported to PC. The console-ized interfaces in many games is annoying...

Well put, I just bought Shadow of Mordor on steam sale and the console interface kinda sucks. I have to arrow key when I should be able to just click something, etc. Less accurate altogether.

and a budget gaming pc isnt $300.

Oh come now.. I build budget gaming PC's for $300 to $350 all the time. Of course peripherals are extra. Case, cpu, psu, mobo, memory, video card, harddrive can be done for cheap. Especially if you stick with AMD cpu.

Hell just had OK but inexpensive PSU plus vid card then done!

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.2307782

That's all new. Better deals if you buy used through these forums which I've done a lot.

Even getting windows is basically free right now for windows 10. Find someone with windows 7, 8, or 8.1 with their original key that they've used to upgrade to windows 10. The 10 they upgraded to frees up their previous key as it is generated a new key based off their original. Which means you can install that previous windows on another system then upgrade that one to 10 for free right now too!

Here is another bundle that is fairly cheap for everything minus GPU and OS.

http://slickdeals.net/f/8234254-amd...dd-cougar-mx200-case-more-195-after-85-rebate

Find a cheap 750i or even better a cheap 280x and all set. Can rock any game on that system far better than any current console. But that has always been the case.
