She was playing a hooker, and was justifying calling these guys rich because they had a 528i. She said it was an 80,000 dollar car. Hardly. Not even close. I just found it odd that someone will bag on someone and be completely wrong about it.

Why is that surprising? I see people do that on these forums every single day.

It'd be nice if people weren't such jerks when doing their job. I can't be a jerk like that at work and not get fired or in trouble. Not saying some people don't have it coming to them, but I didn't see those guys acting like jerks at all. If anything they were scared. I think some people get off on locking up someone that has some money or is dressed nicely.

Well... I don't know this show, but I assume this is a real cop we're talking about? One whose sole job is to dress slutty, entrap, and bust people for a "victimless" consensual crime that should be legalized?
Obviously she has to find some way to justify the harm that she inflicts on these people in return for her meager paycheck. Her way is obviously something to the effect of "they're rich people, I hate rich people, and they can afford it anyway".
Anyway, didn't you know that the police unions have taken over and that cops can no longer be fired except for pedaphilia? Hell, a cop in any city in the US can murder in cold blood and get nothing but a paid month off.

We are talking about a 528. The show was filmed 2003-2004. Check the last date a 328i was made, and also option it out. Finally, I'm seeing 59,537 on Edumunds for an optioned out 525. A 2000 528i(last year they were made I believe) is looking at about 39k with all options. Price a 525 and not a 545. :p

Anyone else remember the female OK State Trooper (I think she was in the OKST) who shot a guy under severely fscked up circumstances and kept her job basically because they didnt want to fire a woman?

I don't know about the police union things, but I've been on the short end of the stick before due to the car I drove or the appearance thereof.

Well then... I wish every other state would follow your state's example. Not bloody likely though.

uhhh no!

maybe a 540

Uh, yes. Go to bmwusa.com and option it out yourself.

No. You are wrong. You are taking options and pricing at the MSRP level plus you are cherry picking the highest options. How many people pick all the expensive options in a 325i instead of just stepping up? Regardless we are talking about a 528i.

Unions have their positives & negatives, just like anything else. The main downside of us not having them is the smaller departments (where many have to start their careers) pay *extremely* low (I'm talking less than $20,000 in some cases).

I got lucky in that I got picked up by one of the biggest departments in the state (in a volunteer capacity while I'm still in college), that pays well & provides full benefits, and hopefully that'll translate into a full-time position when I graduate. Another downside for us personally is that we're not guarenteed protection from political pressures that result in job loss.

Of course the upside is what you mentioned--bad cops don't last very long. If people are fvcking up, they're not going to make it.

Have you noticed how so many NYPD officers act like jerks in various manners. I haven't really experienced that on the broad level I saw during the show.

Hehe, yeah, kinda stupid stacking, much like the leather selector with wood inlay + the leather/wood knob.

The 525i and 528i optioned very very similarly though, plus a few bucks here, minus a few there. Why anyone would take a $39k car and option it out like that, of course, would have to be chalked up to insanity... but it can be done.

Last year, a Portland police officer (white male) shot and killed a young woman who attempted to flee in her car from a traffic stop. Against police regulations, the officer placed himself in danger by attempting to enter the vehicle while the woman was still in control of it. A grand jury found the killing to be justifiable but that the officer acted improperly by placing himself in a situation where his life would be in danger if the woman failed to comply, and where he could then be forced to use deadly force.
The Chief of Police ruled that the officer should be suspended for 5 months without pay. The police union (Portland Police Association) threw its considerable weight towards the mayor, the police chief was fired that very day, and the officer was reinstated with back pay.
So basically, if an officer fscks up and the result of his fsck up is that he has to kill you, he won't even miss a single day of pay.

Now in this event, I will admit that the woman shared a considerable amount of fault. But that still doesn't make me feel better knowing I could be alone with a cop on a dark night, and that he could shoot me just for not liking me, make up whatever story he wanted, and probably wouldn't even be reprimanded.

I hope you're aware how narrow-minded your judgement of Police Officers & the use of deadly force is if you're basing everything on one instance.
