A black Mamba is biting my leg? Surely you jest.

Damn things killed me every time. 100%

That linked just BSOD my pc lol
We get them here and the bite are deadly and a snake bite damages tissue in a big way. Even with a anti venom that part of the skin normally never recovers.

According to National Geographic, the black mamba is the longest poisonous snake in Africa and has a reputation as the world’s deadliest snake.
Thats wrong. The king cobra, also known as the hamadryad, is the longest of all poisonous snakes, averaging 3.6 m (12 ft) but sometimes reaching 5.4 m (18 ft) in length.
The taipan is the deadliest land snake as the worlds deadliest snake lives in the sea, luckily

How do you not notice there's an animal biting you? I notice when my back hair tickles.

Probably the same way a woman didn't know she was pregnant - consistently high on drugs so they don't can't feel much or make sense of what is going on.

A venomous life-threatening bite may not produce symptoms immediately and observation of a bite victim of 24 hours must be done. Specially with Cobras

Black mamba venom is a neurotoxin, not a necrotoxin.

King Cobra is not an African snake, so that's actually right. Deadliest can mean causing the most deaths, since the Black Mamab is very aggressive.

maybe thats why he is alive... he didnt react to the bite so the mamba didnt inject venom thinking whatever it bit is dead already lol

Soooo, this guy photographs the most poisonous snakes in the world, and he just stands beside them wearing shorts? He's a strong contender for a future Darwin Award.

Black mambas should have negrotoxins :hmm:

How can a bite not do anything for several hours? It's not a virus like HIV where it takes time to build up. It's more like being injected with vodka; it screws up your nervous system immediately. A venom would be pretty useless if the prey can still get away easily.

Yeah, it certainly does raise a question though. The black mamba is large, fast, and aggressive, WTF is the guy doing having it where it can get to him? And howTF does he not notice it biting him? Let alone not noticing until the next day from a picture. He had to have known the snake got on him. Was he randomly snapping pictures with the camera pointed down and not looking? While a deadly snake was slithering around his legs?

The pics are cool, but the guy sounds like a fucking idiot.

Damn, he's got some nice pics of some awesome snakes.

That wasn't wrong at all. It said it was the longest African snake. Further, it didn't say it was the deadliest - it said that it had a reputation as the deadliest snake. That's also true. Sea snakes certainly don't have a reputation of being deadly, because they're not aggressive. In other words, if the myth was true (it isn't) that daddy long legs spiders had the most powerful, deadliest venom, it doesn't mean that the daddy long legs spiders themselves are deadly spiders.

My guess is that standing next to him there is a snake handler who wasn't doing his job. See the snake handling crook (or whatever it's called) in the pic? I think the handler failed to keep the snake off the photographer, saw the whole thing happen, and then didn't say anything to anyone figuring that the guy was dead.
