A bit of a strange memory problem when overclocking

I have a Phenom II X4 920 CPU, so I have to OC via the FSB. It runs just fine at 240 FSB, but only as long as my memory is underclocked. My memory is OCZ Gold, which is supposed to be able to run at 1066 (1:2.66) - which it does just fine, if the FSB is not overclocked. When the FSB is overclocked, it won't even run stable at 800, only at 640 (3:4), which is just over half of what it should be able to do. Why should it make a difference to the memory how it gets to its rated speed, as long as it gets there? Most importantly, any suggestions? Looser timings? It didn't run at 1066 with auto timings, so OCZ suggested 5-5-5-18 at 2.2v, which works just fine at stock speed, but doesn't work overclocked.
