These are ping times to my first hop, a tendot (i.p=10.x.xxx.x) they should be like sub 20ms right? :| this is from "Cox High Speed Internet" :| I am "This close" to dumping them :|

Have your line checked... Make sure the cable jacks aren't corroded.

I'll tell you what, for the same price, I will physicaly RUN your packets to the server...should see a better rate! 😉

But yeah, with such large fluxuations, I would say check your cables and your line.

A tech is coming out tomorrow, when I called cox earlier this week they did re-route me around a server that was timing out and I could see a difference in page loads but ping times still sucked in Q3, and every time it rains it is worse so I am sure there is a bad cable outside 🙁

Things are better now, the first set of speed tests were before the Tech came to my house on 08-18-2002 (sunday) around 1:00p.m.

The second set of tests are after the visit from the tech.

I still have fluctuating pings to my first hop, he said that my modem was causing the ping problems so I am going to take it to compusa and make use of my replacement plan for the second time, I had the modem replaced about a year ago for similar issues.
