A big kudos to Brother (printer replacement out of warranty)

Not sure if this should be here or OT but here goes. About 3 to 4 years ago, I purchased a MFC-240C Brother AIO unit on a super slick deal (about $3 after all was said and done). I ended up fixing my previous Brother unit and placed this unit under the bed, never opening the box.

Fast forward to yesterday when I pulled it out to give to my daughter (no pics) going to college. Of course, my luck, the black didn't print. Had plenty of ink but refused to print. I cleaned the heads about 10 times and a few times in a "hidden maintenance mode". No luck.

Sent an e-mail last night and was surprised to see a reply about an hour later stating that they would be making an accommodation since I had just opened up the unit (on my word alone). I called to see what they suggested and, again to my surprise, she said that Brother would just send me a new wireless unit at no cost with extended 2 year warranty AND to keep the old unit (recycle it).

I've had great luck with Brother units and the ink is super cheap (especially the generics). Couldn't be more happy with the great and easy service from a company that didn't have to do anything for an out of warranty "new" printer...but they did.

That was great that Brother replaced it for free. I have a laser printer from them and is extremely pleased with the performance.
