A BIG FU to Clemson University

After 5 years of work towards my computer science degree, today was graduation. Clemson in their infinite wisdom decided for the first time ever to hold it outside in the football stadium. The only backup plan was to cancel the ceremony if bad weather occured. Halfway through bad weather did occur. All of the engineering and science major did not get to walk. It was cancelled. I got to pick up my diploma at a concession stand. F' Clemson. They will never get any alumni money from me. I spent my money and my time to get my cap and gown and to have family come see me graduate. Just royally pisses me off.

I am just really mad because I am an only child so this was my mom's only opportunity to see her child walk across the stage.

EDIT: Well when you sit for half the people to walk across the stage then not get to yourself, it just pisses you off.

You should rent out a small reception hall and have a party. Let your mom announce your name and hand you your diploma...it'll cost a little money but you only graduate once ;)

Ouch. And I definitely feel for you. I am currently a student at Clemson, just completed my sophomore year. When I heard that they were doing graduation in Death Valley, I knew it was going to kick them in the pants. I'm sure it was nice and peaceful and quiet, as well, with the demolition of Johnstone and the renovation of Littlejohn, too. :disgust: As one Clemson student to another, congratulations and good luck.

I graduate my 5 year computer engineering program next year :(, but this year's commencement speaker is the head of the CIA. Supposedly there have already been riots on campus (I live off campus, and am on co-op so I don't know for sure), against this guy coming (I forget his name). Apparently, people think there will be some kind of terroist attack at commencement. Not that I was going anyway.

Ouch. Anyway, you graduated. How long did you have to sit? When my sister graduated from U of Dayton, it took them 3 hours to announce the names :|

On a lighter note, look at it this way: you are one in 2000 (maybe more)! Because this:

<< Hey Codewiz, let me be the first Anandtecher to congratulate you. Well Done !!I'm sure your mother is extremely proud of you whether you got towalk across the stage or not! >>

was a positive post from Red Dawn. And if you've seen his posts before, he cant have made more than 3 positive ones :p

Sorry Red, just screwing with you.

Congratulations in obtaining your degree. I hope that everything works out to be the best for you.

BTW, I agree with you. In fact, I want to say a BIG FU to a lot of universities that repeatedly follow horrible systems that end up in dumb decisions like holding a ceremony in a football stadium with no backup plan.

From my experience, a lot of college employees tend to be losers who couldn't find a job elsewhere.

sorry man, that sucks. i think that's what happens at most schools though when the weather doesn't permit holding the graduation ceremony. they don't reschedule them either.

After five years of work, that really sucks.

They could have checked the astrology forcast, too. They would have found that the moon is in feces, which indicates something sh8ty would happen. ;)

Seriously, congrats. :D
