A better mousepad or just a better mouse

I've been playing a lot of instagib matches in UT2004 recently and i can't help but notice that my mouse is just not accurate enough at long distances. I know i could make the shots but the mouse seems to be jumping. I'm using a very common logitech M-BJ58 series 800 DPI optical mouse and plain jane walmart thin mousepad. I'm wonder if a higher quality mousepad would help my accuracy much or if these mice truly just don't cut it on the accuracy end. Obviously something like a bookslang would help but can just changing to a better mousepad make a difference?

A better mouse pad can make a difference but getting something like an MX series mouse w/ higher senstivity would prolly make a bigger diff.

It's probably best to upgrade the mouse first, then see if it helps. Just get a Logitech MX series mouse, like Arcanedeath said, which can be obtained for as little as $25. High end mouse pads probably won't help you as much as a better mouse would. As long as you're not using some cloth pad, it should be okay.

I like just cloth mousepads..I find they work just fine. Get an MX series mouth like someone else said..try that first..if you still feel it isnt good enough, then try a fancy mousepad.

MX518 if you can find them, or even MX510 + good mousepad = better accuracy.

Also, turn down your sensistivity in UT2k4 to at most 2.5, & you may want to check what your acceleration setting is in UT2k4 is.

turn off acceleration, and you can find a mx-518 at bestbuy newegg had em but now outa stock.

Or, if you have an optical mouse, make sure nothing is blocking the laser.

They work very well together and are very responsive. Only complaints I have are the locations of the extra buttons but I am used to them now. Very sweet mouse.
