ok ive been planning my new computer for some time now... im at the stage where im working on my case and modding it but ive got everything planned out... BUT today i got bored and was surfing forums when i noticed my wonderful beautiful lovely ABIT KR7A motherboard getting into some trouble :/... yes apparently with a AMD XP 1800+ (the CPU i was going to pick!!!!!!!! :/ ) it doesnt read it correctly... it posts as like 1150mhz??? and so im lookin for this problem... i find MORE :(... power problems? having problems turning it on after 15 minutes??? problems with the audigy (NOOOOO.. yet another component of what my perfect system would be :(...)

PLEASE!!! someone that has a abit kr7a board and knows what there talking about! am i doomed???
my soon to be (i think) system-

Maxtor 60 gig 7200rpm Hd
AMD XP 1800+
ABIT KR7A motherboard
256 DDR crucial memory (ill upgrade it asap when ive finished with everything else)
Audigy Platinum (internal... not the ex)
Newq
Pioneer DVD Rom
Geforce 3 ti 200 (gainward power pack!!!)
and a Deer 350watt p/s (came with my case)

*note that system cooling will not be a problem since im running 6 enermax 1000-3000rpm fans and then of course a alpha8045 heatsink with a delta 50...

PLEASE!!! i see my dreams being shattered...
ive read problems with KR7A and AMD XP's... KR7A and Audigy's... KR7A and starting up... but ive also read about how great this board is...

Most of those ppl are idiots who shouldn't be building a system...they are too stupid to realize they have the fsb settings incorrect and it is set to 100fsb...

The multiplier on a 1800+xp is 11.5, but normally it is times 133fsb for 1533mhz...however with an incorrect 100fsb setting it will read 11.5 x 100 or 1150mhz...

There is no problem I have seen as I have seen some sites run reviews of the board with an 1800+xp...They tend to run latest bios so unless there was a bug I didn't hear about that is chalked up to user incompetence...

Realize a few things, please...

People here come in all walks of life with all different levels of computer experience, and I am sure you will find a post with someone having a problem with just about everything under the sun....

Look for multiple (and I mean more then 2 or 3) post of same topic before you get overly concerned...

Many solve the issues with help here in the forums...

You know, this is exactly why I've come to trust the great people in the Anandtech forums. A good question, and a great answer. Kind of relaxing isn't it?
