A and CNAME Records - Needed? - Yahoo! Small Business defaults

Okay, I'm a relative newbie to DNS, and have a question regarding A and CNAME Record settings.

In the past, I've used godaddy.com for domain registration, and their settings are really straightforward. All I've had to do is change the Nameserver to my host's, it takes time to populate, and whala, it's good to go.

However, yesterday I picked up a domain using smallbusiness.yahoo.com on their half price sale, and don't quite understand what to do with their "Advanced DNS settings" page.

They have three "Advanced DNS settings" listed:

1. A and CNAME Records
2. MX Records
3. Nameservers

2. and 3. are both straightforward, and I thought that if I had nameservers (ns5.telnap.com and ns6.telnap.com) defined that I would not need an A or CNAME record at yahoo.

However, Yahoo has four defaults listed under A and CNAME Records, and it won't let me delete them. The defaults are listed as:

www.site.com Yahoo! IP
site.com Yahoo! IP
*.site.com Yahoo! Server
mail.site.com Yahoo! Server

I've updated these to point to my server's IP and subdomain as follows:

www.site.com 70.84.30.212
site.com 70.84.30.212
*.site.com subdomain.siteA.com
mail.site.com subdomain.siteA.com

However, do I really need these A and CNAME records? Don't they slowdown the resolution of my domain name for people browsing? Anyone else have experience with this at Yahoo!?

I'm probably just off my rocker...please help. Thanks!
