Does anybody have a theory or idea why the 845D chipset wasn't mentioned in this article? Of course I can't find any info about this chipset at Intel, but it seems to me that the 845D does use DDR333, here is a quote from the article

<< From Intel itself, there's only support for DDR266 for now, but ultimately Rambus, based on PC1066 specifications, should create a breath of fresh air. >>

Am I wrong about the 845D? Does it not support DDR333? I would like some answers if anybody has one? Thanks.

The i845D is specified to use PC1600 or PC2100 DDR SDRAM.

PC2700/DDR333 is not an official JEDEC standard; Intel does not support this RAM. Of course in an overclocked configuration, the i845D can use PC2700/DDR333.

You have to remember that there is no real difference between the different DDR RAM specs....all PC2700/DDR333 is, is simply RAM guaranteed by the manufacturers to operate at that frequency.

Truthfully, it is gonna be a long time, if ever, before 845-D recieves DDR333 support. JDEC hasn't even finalized the standard. The PC2700 out now, is just PC2100 that's been pretested for PC2700 speeds.

Thats not what I've heard. I've heard that there will be some changes to the packaging or something like that. Nothing major, but still it's something.

Well, just to be picky, hehe......all PC2700 thats out there *just now* is simply high spec PC2100, but the real PC2700 / DDR333 is going to be slightly different....which is probably why AMD arent going to up thre FSB for Thouroughbred :)()....oh well, just need to do it ourselves ;)

<< Thanks, so what is the differnece between the 845 and 845D? >>

Well, they are actually both the exact same NB and SB so really they are both identical. But "offically" 845 has only SDRAM support while 845-D has DDR support, "offically";)
