I ordered a delta 92mm 4800rpm fan and it a 55dB (for sp94)

I have 2 delta 120mm 30dB and I?m fine with them

Will the extra 25dB make a huge difference?

i've had 2. 70mm @near 6000rpm and 80mm @ 5700rpm. for the amount of noise pollution caused, they should be outlawed ;)

If you have allergies (as any competent PC user should), your ears should be stopped up enough to not really notice it.

55 dB? 74 dB? I'd lose my mind from the noise. I'd start pounding on the walls like a primate. I'd throw my computer out the window (I think my panaflo L1As at stock are too loud)...

If you google "loudness scale" you can get estimates of what these dB levels can compare to. 30 dB is a quiet whisper. 55 dB is almost a normal conversation. Though dB levels are measured subjectively (how far away to measure, etc)... so it depends I guess.

That depends on your tolerance for noise. No one can tell you how you feel about it. My 57db Tornado clocks-in at 57db and after a while it just turned into white noise.

I'm not positive, but i think that every increase of 10 or 15 dB, heard noise is doubled...

my old case had teh tornado as a rear exaust fan running at full speed, a 60mm Delta Screamer on teh HS, and 3 120mmsunnon Case fans, and a 92mm papst fan

that was kinda loud, this is scilent compaired to it

A Panaflo L1A @ 12v is too loud inside my power supply, inside my padded case. You are insane. Or I am. It's really kinda hard to tell.

3dB is around actual doubling, 10dB percieved doubling.
also IIRC, 30dB is consiered a whisper, 60dB conversation in a loud room.
Most major OEM desktops (except the high-end ones) typically come in between 25 and 35dB.
All IIRC :).
