I was watching a channel on Twitch.tv and someone left a $200 donation. People can do what they want with their money, but shouldn't they contribute to a more worthwhile cause? If I was going to donate $200 I would give it to a charity and not to someone playing Skyrim for 6 hours a day.

How do you think he affords to sit around playing Skyrim all day?

Maybe it was his mom or something.

Wow.

Most streamers do mention in their bios that they hope to stream full time. So it's safe to say that there are people who make a living from Twitchtv.com

I was only on for 5 minutes!

:(

People can do what they want with their time, but shouldn't they contribute to a more worthwhile cause? If I was going to do something for 5 minutes I would give it to a charity and not to someone playing Skyrim for 6 hours a day.

Oh yeah? There are other people with millions of views who proclaim to have $1,500+ in donations from one person. The highest I saw was some guy saying he had received >$50,000. "Am I being trolled?"

This guy has http://www.twitch.tv/summit1g someone with over $4,000.

I don't get streaming.

I do watch the odd e-sports match, when I'm bored, but wouldn't dream of paying for it.
I do watch the odd compilation or gameplay video on youtube, when I'm bored, but wouldn't dream of paying for it.

But watching someone playing in real time? I guess if I sit physically next to them, and can make fun of them when they mess up it's kinda funny, but again, wouldn't dream of paying for it. Wouldn't dream of doing it over the web, unless I know the guy, and am coaching him in something.

I am streaming my naked body into the web though. Donations are always welcome.

I was reading a thread on AT about someone watching a channel on Twitch.tv and this thread moaned about someone leaving a $200 donation. People can do what they want with their time, but shouldn't they contribute to a more worthwhile cause? If I was going to use my time wisely I would give it to a charity and not to watch someone playing Skyrim for 6 hours a day.

Yea cause Charity is such "worth wile cause".

You realize charity are businesses right? It's multi billion dollar industry with average CEO pay of over 500k a year.

You're an idiot and so is the person you quoted.

Charities come in many different forms and for you, vdipshit, to put them all in one pile, that says they're all money grubbing bastards, shows that you're a fucking moron.

Maxifucktard is also a dipshit because he doesn't realize that the people are supporting the person who are entertaining them. I believe the only way to get my point across to such a moron is to use all caps: THEY ARE SUPPORTING A PRODUCT THAT THEY ENJOY WITH $$$ SO THAT IT WILL CONTINUE TO EXIST.

Maybe they gave $2000 to charity already.

What makes you so high and mighty that you can judge what others do with their money? I'm sure every spare dollar you earn you give to Save the Children and have never bought a video game for yourself.

If you have a problem with that, you should hear how many thousands 15-18 year olds win playing Call of Duty "professionally".

Post proof or STFU and stop posting.

And yes, the animal rescue I volunteer for, the person who heads it, does it all for profit. Idiot.

edit - I just emailed my friend who runs a non-profit community farm that feeds the poor and asked if she makes makes $500k a year.

I was watching Bisu stream on afreeca through snipealots twitch channel and hordes of fangirls were giving him $100 here $200 there.. i think he got like $10k in the 15 mins that I watched... maybe not - I'm not so keen on the Won to Dollar exchange rate...
