_Restore Dir Can I Delete? HELP!!!!

My norton shows 466 files in this dir that are infected with the w32 pinfi virus.

I can't see the files in explorer and I clicked show all files even hidden, So I was thinking of booting to dos and deleting the files that way or the whole folder since windows won't let me delete it NO MATTER WHAT.

Its the system restore dir right? I don't use sys restore anyway so Can I delete it and how?

By the way norton can't repair nor delete the files either.

Right-click on the My Computer icon, and select Properties. If you have Windows XP, there will be a tab labeled System Restore. Click that tab, and you'll have the option to disable system restore on all of your drives. Select that option, and it'll disable system restore (as well as get rid of all of the files in the _Restore directory).

If you're running Windows ME, there will be a tab labeled File System (or something similar... I believe it's the last tab on the right). Go there, and then click the "Advanced..." button. This will bring up a window with advanced file system settings and stuff. The last tab to the right in that window should be Troubleshooting. Go there, and the last checkbox will be the option for disabling system restore. With this checked, you should be able to clear out the files in the _restore directory that are infected.
