Here's the hardware...
* Leadtek K7NCR18-G Pro N-Force2 MB using onboard video
* XP 2400+ (not OCing)
* 1GB (512mb x 2 PC3200 G.Skill)
* 40GB Seagate 7200.7 PATA
* LG 4167B DVD burner
* 400W HEC ATX PS

Problem...
I can format the HD, no problem. After the first reboot, Windows 2000 goes to the "Installing Devices" screen where it says "Setup is detecting and installing devices on your computer". When the progress bar reaches about half way the installation just hangs there. No BSOD, it just stops right there.

I've tried...
* Setting eveything to default in the BIOS (MB seems to boot and reboot a little slowly). I've never used a Leadtek before, so this may be normal.
* Disabled audio, LAN, modem, firewire in BIOS.
* Changed around DIMMs in different slots.
* Replaced MB battery with a fresh one.

Can anyone help me out here? :eek:

I didn't use only one DIMM. But I have stumbled onto a fix...

I don't have a floppy drive installed. I disabled the FD controller in the BIOS and in the Standard CMOS menu, set the A: drive to "None".

This is my first floppyless build. Live and learn I guess. :D

Damn floppy drives. Still biting us after we long abandon them. Glad to hear the problem is fixed.
