I checked my CC account and noticed an odd charge for $29.95 from PSW Billing on 07/18/03. I made no online purchases for more than a week before that date.
But the amount would be in line with the Maximum PC subscription.

I contacted my CC company to dispute the charge. PSW added an 800 number along with their charge. I called them and found out that the charge was for a service that would be billed monthly @ $29.95. The service was for "XXX Unreel". They would not refund me the $29.95. They said I'd have to follow through with the charge dispute...
Which I did.

Has PSW Billing nailed anyone else for $29.95?

Thanks :D

BTW, Online vendors & services that I've given my CC number to in the past 3 or 4 months are...
PayPal
Eagle Computer Systems
Newegg
Googlegear
Maximum PC
Computer Geeks
DealSonic
Ebuyer
Amazon
Kingdom Tapes

Nope. I have, however, been hit a few different times, once by "Credit Check"... they conveniently "hide" the $80 yearly fee. Well, not really hide, just make the notice really really small.

Couple other times, too, that I can't remember.

From my Google search "PSW Billing" & "$29.95", it looks like PSW handles billing for multiple porn sites.

Is this similar to that rash of CC charges that showed up on people's bills about, what, 5-6 mos. ago?

working in this industry we find a lot of people do not read to what they agree to pay for.

*small rant*
ALWAYS ALWAYS be sure you know what you have agreed to. There is no suck thing as free porn if you do not cancel the potential rebill.

Looking on their site I don't see how you could have signed up for it and not notice it's a monthly rebill. Now if you happen to have kids or roomates in your home. Start looking there.

Now if this was indeed a fraudulant charge, they should have refunded your money on the spot.

They are several companies that bill for this industry.

ibill, ccbill, psw to name a few. They are quite a few that just went under recently to which has made my job very busy over the last week.

I haven't looked at or signed up with any of their sites.
I don't respond to any of the spam I'm sent. If I buy something online, I seek it out.

The only "service" I've subscribed to is here at the AnandTech Forums. :)

Did all your information match? even the email address? I am not sure how psw verifies their iformation. But where I work we go as far as doing ip traces to see if it is someone isp.

if their address, email, name, cvv2 (security code on back of card), ip traces to thier isp. we wont refund. A lot of times it turns out to be a roomate, spouse, or child.

They (PSW Billing), didn't ask for any of my information, other than my name & CC number.
My CC company has been A+ over the last five years about clearing disputed charges for me. This one with PSW Billing make number 5.

My wife is the only other person with access to the CC. That's if you don't count the servers at the restaurants, cashiers at the grocery store, clerks at the gas stations and video rental stores.

Sorry B. I just really wanted to check out those pics of Anna Kournikova....They said "FREE TRIAL"....so I thought it'd be ok.

:p

On a side note, few years back, I DID have 2 charges (2 consecutive months) for $29.95 for some BS. I researched it, and it was for some GAY pr0n site! WHISKEY! TANGO! FOXTROT! I got it credited off by the company.

Year or so later, I got some letter about a settlement/class action lawsuit about some company that was deceptively charging for "services" that were never requested or whatever. And whaddya know, the one that charged me was on there. Filled out the papers and sent it out, but never got anything back from it. Go figure.
