__ HP Pavilion owners __ Please help me with this case __

I'm replacing a HD for a friend of mine. He has an HP Pavilion 8575C.

To me it looks like the HD/FD/CD-ROM cage pulls out WITH the front cover.

Am I right about this?
Any input is most appreciated 😀

You are correct. It is weird, you need to pop off the side panel and remove 2 screws that hold on the front panel and drive cage, then you can pull it out from the front. If you would like, look at the INSTRUCTIONS from HP.

Have fun.

Wow, it doesn't look that hard when you see it 😱

I got it all out ok. I'm pretty sure it's the HD that's bad. It won't boot into Windows, won't FDISK and when accessed makes an odd sound...
Sort of like the sound a case screw makes when you drop it on a table top and it bounces a few times, except with a little more "twang" to it 🙂
Are HP's (Quantum), drives know to only last less than two years?

Thanks for the link!
