I'm tired of swapping CD's in and out.

* Can I simply use Norton's Ghost to copy entire game CD's onto a series of 650mb partitions?
* Is Ghost even needed to do this? Or can I just drag & drop the CD onto a partition, in Windows 98?

Thanks :D

Check out this software

Fantom CD is a software for reading CDs and running CD programs without a CD by creating a virtual CD-ROM drive on the hard disk using software methods. This emulator allows you to run CD-ROM applications from your hard drive or network server. In your hard drive space, you can establish and access up to 31 different virtual CD-ROM drives. From the moment you use Fantom CD, there is no more need to search CD-ROMs or load CD-ROMs in the drive. There is no need to wait for the CD-ROM drive to run, either. You also do not need to change the CD-ROM to run another application program. You can also use Fantom CD to record the image files to empty CD-R disc. Fantom CD is not only the best CD-ROM emulator but also the best choice for you to use/play/run C/DVD discs and restore them back to CD-R/RW or DVD-R/RW.
You can find Fantom CD here.
It sounds like an awesome program and i keep meaning to try it, it also supposedly is not affected by copyright protection.

I'm planning on partitioning for multiple game CD's. And I already have a copy of Ghost... somewhere.
I basically wanted to know if it would do what I need, before I dig it out from wherever it is.

A lot of games Max Payne and Diablo II for instance have what's called safedisc2 copyright protection they need to check the CD its self, in fact most burners don't copy that protection, clonecd or not, so you could copy the entire contents of a CD to a partition and I don't think it would matter, I am not sure if there is a way to have the game look at a partition on your hard drive instead of your CD-rom drive. as far as ghost goes it copies the files in a ,gho format so I don't think that's a viable option. Now I have only used ghost to back up entire partitions and I always use it to compress the files, and I always use it in dos. And remember if you start adding partitions to your hard drive that the letters to your cd-rom drives will change and that can screw things up.
