You may find a few mixed in with the yellow Ni-Cads.
$2.99 is the regular price not on sale.
As far as I can tell the retail price is from $5 to $13 depending on whether you buy generic or name brand.
$2.99 is almost the retail cost for an alkaline. Not sure what the rating is as far as amp/hours.
