So, I guess the race has started, even though there's no initial stats yet?

@RD, both my machines are showing 0.0.0.0 for the collection server, and neither has an AMD card.

Well, I am now officially worried since we haven't heard from Peter. Does anybody know if he is OK?

Probably not kosher to do this but 7im posted this late last month on one of the FAH Forums:

Not all work servers have collection servers.

They used to, and should all have a CS. But since all the servers are in the process of having the software updated, the work server version doesn't always match the CS version. There will be some gaps during the upgrades.

So maybe they aren't done yet. We will see if it affects us.

FWIW my AMD GPU slots -- which in the advanced viewer show a valid work server address (140.163.4.231) but only ever show 0.0.0.0 for the collection server -- automatically upload to 140.163.4.233 when a WU is complete.

Similarly, my CPU slot is now showing all naughts for the CS address but successfully uploaded to 171.64.65.124 just now.

edit: one of the gpu slots (90% progress, fyi) is now showing a valid CS IP (171.65.103.160) for some reason, while the other (80% progress) isn't atm. heh

Sorry for being late.
I have been at work since Sunday morning @ 07:00 until 19:00 Monday ...
Sickness in the shape of a noro-virus infection has struck the hospital with approx 15% of the staff hit ...

Back to the current issue ....
I'll post the teams and the initial stats in a jiffy ... please have some more patience.

Well, I woke up this afternoon after a nap, and my "main" Q9300 still had its screen active. Which is pretty strange, usually it shuts off. When I got to it, I noticed the mouse wasn't moving either. It had frozen up last night, hard freeze.

So I set the CPU overclock from 3.0 back down to 2.5 (stock) and reduced the vcore to stock. I'm more suspicious it's the new GPU, but ... it's the first troubleshooting step to try, I guess.

I noticed that the GPU in this box got to 70C, whereas, in my other Q9300, it only got to like 63-64C.

In my quad-GPU cruncher, they only get to 43C. (It has a lot more fans, and moves a lot more air.)

However, these cards are rated to 90C, so I don't think that should be a problem.

It could be the OCZ SSD freezing up in the system. Or perhaps the PSU needs changing? It's only 4, maybe 5 years old. It had a 3-year warranty.

Ok, Allu Allies, time to pump it up!

HFM shows 697K ppd for my 2 rigs. Gotta love linux and 100% core 17 WUs. :whiste:

Of course, Stanford may change all of that this month:

1) no more core17 WUs for linux (i'm a glass half-empty guy)
2) port core18 to linux (cripples my GTX980)

Good racing all! :p

Here are the stats for the first full day of racing:

FAH-Race-2014-Dec-02.JPG

Mark has passed a very nice milestone: 500 000 000 points for the TeAm!

I have added Rattledagger (Baldurs_Gate) to the race as an Aluminium Ally and moved Neurodog to the Tin Men. I will be shuffling the members around a bit before the PrimeGrid race to balance the teams. After the PrimeGrid race we will see - the last two weeks of the F@H-race no shuffling will be done.
Please do not hesitate to point out any errors, omissions or problems. I'll correct them as soon as I can. :)

I think it has a lot to do with luck of the draw?

My GTX 970 is getting like 35,000 ppd :eek:o_O :(

The GTX 560 is getting much better - 75,000 ppd

The 970 currently has a P10743 core x18 and is saying 38,000 ppd.
Does this sound correct? Or did I do something wrong during install? It seemed to get the two cards mixed up.

Do you have both cards with client-type="beta" and a V7 client ?

My 460's are doing 16k, my 660ti's are 60k, my 290 is at 145k, and my 780 is at 183k, all with client-type=beta, and all with core 17 or 18

And during initial setup, you won't get the core 17 or 18. until at least the second unit after adding the client-type=beta

No, nothing wrong. The maxwell is crippled on the new core 18 WUs. They had to do some software work around just to get the maxwells to work. They believe it is a driver or openCL issue.

Fortunately, they haven't ported core 18 to linux so I get 100% core 17 WUs. A P9201 WU gives me 397K ppd on my GTX980.

Stanford has a lot of work to do to get the new maxwell's to run at their potential. Maybe next year.

Thanks for the stats PB. I need to get on the board though, and get my other cruncher online - hopefully, this weekend. Go AA! :D
