I live in a small town here in Massachusetts. Its about 40f degrees out right now and about 65f in my house. I recently built a computer with the extream4 and so far everything is a little tooo good. My northbridge temp is around 29-33 at idle always. it may shoot to 35c but its rare. I seen it once at 40c before I but the little fan on top. My mobo is a gross overkill for the pc i actually put together but I wanted a good foundation to slowly upgrade from. So I guess I'm asking, Are the northbridge temps normal?

K, thank you. I guess my concern started because all the reading I've done suggested that my northbridge should be around 50-60s. I know I live in a colder climate but would that cut the temp in half? I thought maybe the sensor was bad or severely inaccurate.

anything under 60c is optimal, anything under 70c is ok. above that start worrying.

Lower is fine, higher is not. The reason? silicone which is what the chip logics are made of starts "wearing out" (its more complex but...) at higher temperatures.
