I had heard the song before in German..

Actually in German class. Our teacher (in hs) thought that to learn a language, you needed to know the culture adn slang too

Sop today I was driving home, and what do I hear, the intro to 99 Red Balloons, and I think "I've never heard them play German music before..."

Then the lyrics start, and they're English. Kinda surprised me. Does anybopdy know if it's a direct translation. Sounded like it for the most part. I know the theme is still the same.

The original versions are pretty good, but the punk cover by (Goldfinger?) is awesome. It's as if the song was meant to be played that way.

Nena did both German and English versions back in the 80s, I've heard both at least 99 times.

Plus the Eurotrip version of course :)

Yeah, the Goldfinger remake is way better than the original.

Yes, it is Goldfinger. Awesome version.

Edit: Didn't see Shawn's reply.
