99 Accord Coupe LX Manual Tranny

Random stalling of the call. I'd drive 50MPH down the freeway and the car would just die. I would then have to start it up again while it's rolling or I could pull off and start it back up with no problem. Kinda dangerous if I'm rolling along on the high way and the car dies, don't ya think?

I talked to my friend who works at Honda and he said it might be the Ignition switch that is messing up. He said it was recalled before and we looked it up online to have it listed as a recall by Honda. It covers the year of our Honda, however, the VIN report for on Honda's site does not specifically list the ignition switch as a recall. I called Honda of America and they said to take it to a dealer and have them diagnose it then bring the charges to Honda of America and they'll see what they can do.

My questions are:

Anybody know if it actually is the ignition switch?

If it is, what else can I do to get this fixed without out of pocket expense?

Thanks.

how can a car with a manual transmission idle at 50 MPH? this is not possible unless you are pushing the clutch in or the clutch is slipping randomly. and an idling car doesn't need to be started because it is already running. are you trying to say "loses power and coasts, then dies when i push in the clutch"? if that is what you are trying to say and it will start right back up again, then yeah, the ignition switch could be a likely culprit.

it could be the main relay for controlling fuel pump:

replacing main relay

I replaced this on my '99 Accord V6 coupe, and it solved my warm start problems. My car has stalled on the highway before also, but it has not happened since the fix.

Yes, to clear things up, the car loses power and coasts. It's like the car just dies, then I have to start it back up.
