I'm dual booting 98se and win2k. I would like to mess around with xp. I have 2 20gig hard drives. The master drive I use for all my apps, 98se and win2k. My slave hard drive I use to save my images using Ghost. I know that in the bios I have the option of booting from the slave drive. I would like to install xp onto the slave drive and whenever I want to use xp just boot into the slave hard drive. Do you guys this set-up will work??

Thanks

Why not just install normally? WinXP is smart enough to add itself to the boot menu, so no messing around with which hard drive to boot from.

Just remember to install to a separate partition.

Even if you install to your second drive (I assume that you have only one partition from each drive), it will not cause any particular problems by actually booting from the primary drive, and having the installation of XP on the second drive.

On the master hard drive I have 5 partitions. First partition for 98se, second for win2k, third for installed programs for win2k, fourth for installed programs for 98se and the fifth for music. The slave drive is unpartitioned. The reason I want to install in the slave drive is that, it would be easier to just partition the slave drive then to move things around to make room for xp on the master. So I would not have a problem booting from the slave drive and master when I want??

Thanks

No real problems that I can think of, if you are careful.
