98SE to xp ?

Ive recently bought a new hard drive and XP home upgrade. Is there any way to install my XP upgrade without putting 98 SE on the new drive first? Can I boot to the XP cd and install?

yes, then it will ask for a qualifing product, insert win98 cd, then it checks that, then your good to go!
