Just got this system up and running this week. But I'm having these weird problems. Not all the time but enough to make life miserable.

The system locks for no aparent reason. It happens when opening different sites in IE and at start up about the time the desktop icons appear.

It will at times hang while shuting down. (I know there is a patch for the shut down problem but I haven't seen a link to it)

Here's a good one, the recycle bid shows full ALL the time(there's nothing in it). It's not a big deal by it's self but could it be related to some of the other problems?

I reformatted the HD when I installed it and did a clean load on Win.
I ran sfc.exe, and checked system with Norton Utilites it found errors with NU and corrected them. But I'm still having these same problems.

I'm at a loss. Would reloading Win help? I don't want to reformat and start over if at all possible, it's taken me several days to get all my software installed, etc.

This is a new MB for me and there are a lot of bios settings. Could having some out of wack cause problems like this?

If anyone can think of anything that will help...

Could be alot of things, but it could be that IE was trying to load a page (could be pop-up) in the background and is violating the system security setting that refuses to accept the in question page/script, which causes the error/crash. Try set IE security Low to see if it help, or try disable Win98 Active Desktop by repacing the Win98 Desktop file with Win95 & run Netscape, or upgrade to NT4 or Win2k (only violating program crash, but not the system due to true multi tread kernel).
