Hey all

Lately I've been disappointed with the performance of my EVGA Classified 980 ti.
I play at 1440p and newer games struggle to stay at 60fps or higher. (i wont turn graphics settings down, haha)

Wanted to hold out til Volta but it feels like 6 months away still. Would a 1080 be worth it while waiting?
Or is the 1080 Ti about the only thing that'd be a solid upgrade? I'm on a gsync monitor so not even
considering any Vega stuff.

Thanks!

I would wait for Volta. Imagine GTX2080 Ti ;)

1080TI is more like 60-70% faster.980TI is little bit faster than GTX1070(both max oc) and 1080TI is 70% faster than GTX1070.

I have the 980Ti as well and did a little bit of upgrade research myself. From what I see on most youtube benchmarks is that the 1080ti gives almost double the framerates the 980 gives at higher resolutions(1440P). I don't know how the Volta is going to be performance-wise(I know it'll be expensive cost-wise though), but I'm guessing if you absolutely can't wait, the 1080ti should suffice for a good couple of years if you're not gaming on a 4K monitor.

I'd sell the gtx980ti for about $300 and try to grab a gtx1080 for under $ 500.
The gtx1080 will give you the performance you need till Volta's prices come down to earth after the initial price gouging ,and lets be honest if Volta gtx2080 releases in 6 months, and is 40% faster than a gtx1080, you will want one. :)
