This, please understand what this test actually is - it's measuring the maximum rate of do almost nothing draw calls. It's just a synthetic benchmark for showing cpu+api overhead or command processor limits.

In no way does it represent a meaningful performance metric for comparing anything but API overhead on the same card as the number of draw calls that actually do something you can use will be far lower and unrelated to this.

Edit: I'm curious if both above posters who have "luxury" (by my standards anyway) gpus, if you don't mind me asking do you sell your GPUs or do you keep them? I still have old GPUs lying around and CPUs. I've never thrown out or sold any lol...

The only GPU I've ever sold was a non-reference design so I could buy the reference version and throw a water block on it.

I plan to make a display case with all of my old ones one day, because racecar. :hmm:

In our case, they usually get trickled down through other machines and recycled that way (providing the machines support them). Otherwise, I typically retire them. Most people don't want a card that has had the cooler removed and I usually throw the coolers away when I put the waterblocks on.

I honestly used to think it was a pretty bad idea to purchase a high end card and then sell it and repeat. But now that I think of it, I've paid yearly for things like xbox live and cable TV. As long as you can sell it off... you're really just enjoying the best performance all the time.

I need to start selling my cards while they're still valuable lol.

I sell mine often as I game at 2560x1600p so GPU power is always nice to have. It also helps soften the blow for the next one. The key is to move fast while the demand is good and not sit on it.

The rest of my rig is since 2011 so it's completely justified to me. yay for 2600k....
