I've got the choice of buying (both used) a 9800xt for $225 and a 6600gt (the BFG super OCed one) for $210. I've got a 23" monitor and will be on 1600x1200 most of the time. I normally game with HL2/CS:S, and UT2k4. Which one would y'all suggest?

I'd go with the 6600gt, it should be somewhat faster in general, and it has newer features.

a bit faster . . . . in many/most circumstances except at higher resolutions where it's 256MB vRAM somewhat compensates for the 6600gt's faster core and 1/2 the ram. ;)

Generally the 6600GT would be a better buy used as it is a newer card . . . . make sure you know if it was o/c'd or not before you buy.

Isn't $210 rather expensive for a USED 6600gt?

edit: ($225 for a used 9800xt??!? - what Canadian dollars?!?! :p . . . i got my 9800xt last Spring for $223 shipped from NewEgg, new . . . perhaps i should think of selling mine)

$210 isn't bad for the BFG because it goes for $250 new here The warranty and cooler are the reasons I'd consider it, 525/1050 isn't going to do anything substantial for FPS.

that's what i mean - you have no warranty for $210 . . . . for $250 you can get a 6800 (NU -new)
