9800xt overdrive question

Is it ok to keep the overdrive button checked all the time? Or should I only check it when I need the added performance? I dont want to lower the life of my card.

You shouldn't lower life since it does it based on your temperature. It shouldn't allow the card to get hotter than allowable. I would leave it off though the difference it makes isn't that great.
