Wasn't $499 the MSRP anyway? Dunno why so many online vendors are charging more for it.

Wow! Only $500+ for a card that performs 5% better than the $350 one I have! Where do I sign up?!?

I think I'll stick with my 5900nu jobule for 249.00 (about 6 weeks ago).
If the new 52.16 drivers are increasing overall performance like they say it will, I will be gaining a hell of a lot more than 5% for free. We shall see. Waste of money for the 9800XT. Just get a 9700 and that'll do just fine. Waste of money for the 5950 also. I mean for me. Depends on games that come out next year. Who knows, I might just wait for the NV50 or R500 or so to come out and bypass the NV40 and R400 completely. It's us against the marketing machine guys. Don't fall for it...

Unk. Gorillaman. Leave jungle in shame, for buying nVidia card. nVidia card source of all evil in world, bad Gorilla go now. Unk.

Agreed, $500 a card is out of hand. You could buy a 5900/9800 run all your games fine, and donate the rest to the Christian Childrens Fund and actually have spent your money on two worthwhile things.

$500 for 60 fps in Halo for the 9800XT
$272 for 47 fps in Halo for the 9700 Pro
$148 for 29 fps in Halo for the 9600 Pro

or

$8.33 for every fps for the 9800XT
$5.78 for every fps for the 9700 Pro
$5.10 for every fps for the 9600 Pro

You decide.

Yeah, Newegg wants $575 -- but it's in stock! Hey, no pushing! Get back in line!
