9800XT and DVI connect to HD TV

I hope this dosn't sound like too stupid of a question. What do you think about hooking up a 9800XT to a 32 inch Sony High Definition telivision with a DVI connection. Would it provide excellent picture for gaming at higher resoulutions? I am new to computer gaming, I have my PS2 hooked up to my tv with component cables and it rocks, and I would like to just sit in front of a 32 inch high def tv plug in a dual analog usb gamepad and blow away the PS2!
 
Not stupid🙂. I'm not sure what resolutions the Sony supports, but using powerstrip and Karnis's guide here will get you there. btw, one of the most satisfying parts about PC gaming is getting rid of those gamepads, and use the ol' M/K like a real gamer😉
