which one to get? there are quite a few different brands at newegg - sapphire, powercolor, msi, ati and more.

is one better than the others?

i want the 128MB/256bit card

You really can't go wrong with any of them. I've never heard of one brand being worse than the other.

That said, I'd go for the MSI myself. Unless you're planning on purchasing a VGA silencer, they have the best stock cooling option.

i prefer sapphire, but like sonic said, you really cant go wrong wtih any of em.

I have MSI 9800 pro, after installing catylist 4.8(latest ATI driver)/
Automatically reconigzed as XT.

Also came with like 11 cds and nice stock heat sink.

Does this mean that you get the benefits of having an XT (with half the RAM but...) without having to flash to a true XT BIOS?

Get hercules. They seem to have copper heatsinks on all the RAM. This saves you $10 over buying your own.

according to the msi site, they are using the red pcbs and little fans, not the big hsf that the newegg site shows. i also read in one of the reviews that a person received the new setup, so looks like i will have to replace the hsf regardless of what brand i get...
