9800pro not working with ECS N2U400-A

This was involving this old thread Here

No matter what I try my ATI 9800pro will not work with my ECS N2U400-A. It has 8x agp enabled, so thats not it. I swapped out my no-name PS to an antec 400 watt one, still no go. The PC doesnt even really start with the 9800, I tried hitting num-lock to see if the keyboard would light up, no go.

Im not sure if this makes a difference, but the monitor goes on for a millisecond and the keyboard lights up for a second, but then it goes black.

The card is firmly seated, it definetely works (tested it on other system), and the power was plugged in. I am using a borrowed 4200 from my cousin and it works fine, but he is breathing down my neck about wanting it back.

I will try anything to fix it, im desperate.

Thanks

Try clearing your CMOS first. Check the manual on how to do that.

Does the card work in another computer?

Yes, the card works in another computer flawlessly. Thanks for your advice, I tried clearing the CMOS and it didnt help anything. I have emailed ECS tech support so Ill see what they have to say about the matter. There has got to be something that im overlooking.

Uninstall or disable video driver in device manager, then download a fresh copy in the correct OS. Reinstall new driver EXACTLY as the instructions suggest. If it fails again, you have another component that is bad... memory, maybe. Or you have a bad CPU or case fan that is overriding your setup. In this case, remove everything down to a floppy drive, boot disk, and one memory module. Boot to the floppy. Do you get a screen then. If so, you are one your way to adding one component at a time and testing as you go.

If it works in another, but does not work in yours. Check your BIOS settings. Check your motherboard site to see if you have the latest BIOS. Install latest BIOS, then run through this again.

Remember, electrically defective modems and sound cards can also cause this problem. Tedious work will find the solution, particularly when you are rested.

Try giving the 9800 it's own power cable? That is, one that is not also connected to any other component.

Ok, I cannot figure this out.

I tried crucial ram, no go.

I have the newest bios, I messed with those settings a bit, no go.

I checked again to see if my 9800 was defective (i tried on an MSI motherboard) and it worked perfectly.

I gave it it's own power cable, no go. I reinstalled the AGP drivers and removed my old drivers, no go
again.

Checked ATIs site for any info, and installed exactly as the manual says.

I dont have any sound cards or modems to so that cant be it.

The 4200 continuously works on my ECS mobo with no problem.

God what is it?

Yea, I guess it will not even post. No beep codes, but I never get beep codes even on boot up (when it works with my other video card) I do have the system speaker hooked up, but no beep codes seems to be notorious on these boards.

If I cant get this resolved in a few hours im taking it back to frys, Im going on vacation tomorrow and I need to figure something out soon. I Have a total of 14 days from the day of purchase to return the mobo to Frys and that will be over after I get back. I am still within the 14 day period right now I think.

I also got an email back from ECS tech support, telling me all this BS about "Queus" and phone numbers and call numbers and all this bull, im not dealing with that. I just wanted to know if it was a known problem or something like that.

Ok I ended up taking it back tonight, got there right before they closed and got my money back. Ill buy a new combo when I get home next week, hopefully that one will go better. Thanks for your help guys, I think it was just a bad motherboard and there was nothing I could have done.
