9800Pro > 6800NU

I cant wait until fall when i upgrade my 5900XT to a 7800 or R520 🙂 🙂 ... god is that going to be a performance increase. 9800Pro is still decent, 5900XT is piss poor in many games.

I know what you mean...I've had both fx5900 and 9800 Pro and the Pro really played everything so much smoother. I bought the fx5900 for OpenGL games (like Doom3 and VIVO functions) and the 9800 Pro for D3D (like HL2) and BEFORE the hottest titles came out like Doom3 and HL2. I thought both would play these newest games at high quality settings and at a modest resolution. The 9800 Pro does and the fx5900 did NOT. I still own 2 9800 Pro's but sold the fx5900 for $100.00 to a friend about 4 months ago (he's not much of gamer).

The fx5900 was really the biggest dissappointment of any video card I've ever owned. From now on...I wait to buy hardware AFTER the hardware has been fully tested on the titles I'm interested in playing.

If so, was it worth it. I'm looking for a short term budget upgrade. Thanks
Plan on making that switch today.. All indications are that it should be a significant upgrade. I'll try to get you some numbers..

I upgraded from 9800np to BFG 6800OC and its a noticable upgrade. I can now run almost any game on max (except Doom3, only high) with AF and AA at 1280X1024 and its smooth.
