9800NP detected as 9800 PRO?

I recently purhcased an ATI Radeon 9800 NP. Upon installing the drivers it was detected as a 9800 PRO.

I was wondering if this is a common issue and if anyone knew of a fix around this? Would the 9800 Pro drivers affect the performance of my 9800 NP?

I was also wondering if maybe this truely was a 9800 PRO (Fingers crossed).

Is there a very small tool that shows clock speeds on Radeons? I am not talking about powerstrip or RivaTuner, just a small app that does clock speeds?

This is normal and only the clockspeed will reveal the cards true identity. I am using Rage3D Tweak to set clock speed. Stock on the non-Pro is 325 core and 290 memory. Mine shows up as a 9800Pro as well, but it is not. :beer:

Yeah its just a driver thing. I felt the same way when I popped mine in and saw 9800Pro.

Will running the 9800 Pro driver affect the performance of the 9800 NP you think?

I'd just like a small app that can tell me the clock speed.

No it will not affect performance. All it's doing is displaying the wrong name for your video card.

I own a Radeon 9500 PRO and with the newer drivers it is always detected as a 9700 PRO instead. Clock speeds are correct though and there is no performance difference. So yah, its just an ATI driver thingy.
