is the new nvidia card really as good as the tests says? it seems to crush the hd3870x2 in almost all tests.

the reason i ask i that i placed an order for a hd3870x2 that is expected to be delivered at the end of this month. but seeing the new reviews for the 9800gx2 maybe i should cancel and get a nividia instead.

ps. is there any known conflicts between asus maximus and the 9800gx2 ?

How much did you pay for the HD 3870 X2?

There's no doubt that the 9800GX2 is faster, but when you consider pricing, the 3870 X2 is definately a valid option.

In a lot of games, the difference isn't reall huge... but the 9800GX2 does run a lot faster in Crysis, which is a big deal these days.

Yeah , depends on whether you want the fastest card regardless of price.
Here in South Africa the Nvidia GX2 is almost double the price of the ATI X2.

as i said it hasn´t arrived yet so i haven´t paid for it, but the price tag is $670 and a
asus 9800gx2 would cost me around $900, so yeah its a little more expensive but i could live with that.

or i could get another x2 card and an extra psu to power it. :D
.... just kidding, not worth it!!

since the gx2 doesn´t need sli-support from the mobo, it should work on mine, right?

I'd keep the 3870X2. IMO that card is WELL WORTH what you payed. The GX2 isnt worth what they are asking.

i´ve made up my mind, im going with the x2 cause first the price wasn´t $620 its $540, almost half the price of a gx2. second it runs cooler and clocks better, but most important when summer arrives i can run it in crossfirex4 with an r700 andit will crush the gx2 like a 500ton steel press :D (with the exception of crysis of course ;P)
